The Huastec culture evolves in seven
periods and develops mainly in the warm and low lands that extend
from the Soto la Marina river to the Cazones river, along
the Panuco river, and close to the lagoons in the South of Tamaulipas.
As time passes, this culture moves to the Sierra Madre Oriental, San
Luis Potosi, Queretaro, Hidalgo and Puebla. The Huastecs, distant
descendants of the mayas, stand
out for their pottery, much of which is
painted but they also elaborate sculptures
and build pyramids.
